Hi all, As we mentioned in a post on Friday, we are hiring for an MCJ Community & Platform Lead. This is a super important role for us, and for the future of this community. Any help spreading the world on it would be appreciated! People ask if we are a media company, a member community, or a venture capital firm, or said another way, which piece of what we do is most important. The truth is we are none of those things, we are a new kind of org that has 3 equal legs of the stool, that each stand on their own while helping to reinforce the others. Breaking new ground this way means there aren’t a lot of corollaries. Makes it harder to explain what we do in the near-term, adds complexity when structuring the org, etc. But I have never felt more conviction than I do about our longterm direction with MCJ. You can think of us like a music mashup, with artists/genres blended together that don’t typically collaborate. Whether we are ultimately successful or not, I suspect we will see a lot more of these hybrid orgs popping up in different categories going forward, especially where they are wrapped around complex, systems-level challenges that take many stakeholders working across disciplines to properly address.
